David Winningham

Here's another current photo. Some of you will recall that David didn't have a mustache when we knew him. He holds three degrees from Texas A&M (including a Ph.D.), and he's featured in the November 2006 issue of Southern Living because of his Natives of Texas Nursery. You can read all about the nursery if you click here.

Lance and the Bishop, November 2006

Lance comments: This is Bob & me at the close of our last convention in the Diocese of Oklahoma which was last week. Yes, we are as tired as we look. House guests + this sort of meeting = just glad to have this completed. My double chin has gotta be due to a combination of Oklahoma's great cooks and my lack of discipline when presented with all that wonderful home cooking just about every Sunday for 19 years. No excuse for my hair do!

North Texas State, 1966

After a couple of years at Corsicana High, I left to get my M.A. at North Texas. I was a teaching assistant in the English Department, and one day a photographer from the campus paper took this photo of me and Veva Vonler. We're supposed to be discussing a student essay, I think. The picture appeared in The Campus Chat.

New Band Uniform

Do you band folks remember getting the new uniforms?

The Dr Pepper Club

At Corsicana High School, teachers had to sign in by 8:00 every morning and sign out at 4:00 or later. Since we had to be there for a while after school, three of us would go down to the cafeteria to decompress by having a Dr Pepper. We became known as the Dr Pepper Club, and one day the yearbook photographer came by and snapped this photo. The three of us were also the sophomore class sponsors, so the photo went into the yearbook. That's Stan Williams (history) on the left

and Bob Vaughn (math/journalism) in the center. Are those narrow ties, or what?

The Grave of Robert E. Howard

Here's a shot of the gravestone of Robert E. Howard, a Texas writer famous for creating Conan the Conqueror. A friend of mine named James Reasoner is on the left. Angela, Allen, and I are the others in the photo, taken around 1981 or so.
