Mexia City Hall
I've been looking for a good photo of this building, and I've posted a few before. This one is from the Mexia Daily. Here's the caption: "The Mexia City Hall - Civic Center as it was when completed in 1927. Construction began in 1926, with the cornerstone laid on April 20, 1927. We found this photo on the wall in the office of Judy Jacobsen at the City Hall. Judy was able to obtain information for us that indicated that the old structure was built by J. H. Horn and Son Contractors of Abilene. The Mayor at that time was J. Sanford Smith; Commissioners were J. K. Hughes, Jon H. Sweatt, Blake Smith, and W. D. Freeman. The original design was made by Page Brother Architects of Austin. They recently notified the City of Mexia that they had by chance found the old blueprints of the Civic Center. They agreed to package them up and send to Mexia, where they are now displayed on a wall. These old blueprints are invaluable when making needed repairs."
