Most of these men were mobilized in Nov of 1940 with the 36th Infantry Division, seeing heavy action in Italy, France, and Germany. Five of the men were killed in action. Many got Silver Stars and one the Distinguished Service Cross. The Company commander (center from row) Ray G. Purcell was not mobilized due to his age and was disappointed not to be able to go to the war.
