Not long ago I posted a black and white picture of this building, which eventually became the National Guard Armory. (You can see the other version if you click here.)I remember walking by this place often on my way downtown to the Palace Theater or some other swanky destination. There was a bench on the McKinney Street side in those days, and the old guys (probably our age) sat there and talked. Anybody remember the monkey?

I love how the pictures are so different. One has sidewalks and cars. The stairs are missing, but a porch roof is added over one door. The other picture has horses and wagons and water for the horses. All the windows are open. I wonder if that old building ever had a/c.
I love all the pictures. Thanks for the memories.

I'll bet it never had A/C. I was never inside it much, but I don't recall any A/C.
