Old City Hall and Fire Station

Not long ago I posted a black and white picture of this building, which eventually became the National Guard Armory. (You can see the other version if you click here.)

I remember walking by this place often on my way downtown to the Palace Theater or some other swanky destination. There was a bench on the McKinney Street side in those days, and the old guys (probably our age) sat there and talked. Anybody remember the monkey?

I love how the pictures are so different. One has sidewalks and cars. The stairs are missing, but a porch roof is added over one door. The other picture has horses and wagons and water for the horses. All the windows are open. I wonder if that old building ever had a/c.
I love all the pictures. Thanks for the memories.

I'll bet it never had A/C. I was never inside it much, but I don't recall any A/C.
